Bruno Carli is an Italian director and producer. Born in Asiago and raised on the Asiago Plateau, he lives and works between Bologna and Rome.
His first encounter with cinema came on the set of Ermanno Olmi’s Greenery Will Bloom Again (Torneranno i prati). He later moved to Bologna, where he studied at the Rosencrantz & Guildenstern School of Cinema and began his professional career in the directing department.
He has worked as an assistant director and first assistant director on short and feature films, documentaries, commercials and music videos. The experience he has gained on set - across different productions, crews and working methods - has shaped his approach as a director, rooted in observing places, communities and human relationships.
He wrote and directed Sweet Home Cesuna, his first feature film, shot on the Asiago Plateau and edited with Paolo Cottignola, a two-time David di Donatello winner.
He is a partner at Meriggio Film, a Bologna-based film production company, where he contributes to the development of its fiction division. Producing complements his work as a filmmaker, allowing him to follow projects through both their creative development and production.
Alongside his work on set and the development of his own projects, he teaches Assistant Directing and Film Language at the Rosencrantz & Guildenstern School of Cinema in Bologna, bringing to the classroom the hands-on experience he has gained in directing and production.
